The Garden Theater tends to get the attention -- and the jokes -- but in all honesty, the key to redeveloping the block at North and Federal Streets on the North Side was always the buildings next door. But while a court battle over those properties held up work for months, the Victorian-era buildings deteriorated to the point that they were condemned last fall and torn down this year. And that has cleared the properties for what's coming next.

It took just 45 minutes for the lawyers and Judge Alexander P. Bicket to finish selecting jurors for the trial of Michael Rosfeld, the former police officer accused of murdering teen Antwon Rose II last year. ​The group -- legal teams, court officials, jurors and perhaps a journalist or two -- will now return to Allgeheny County from Harrisburg and get ready for the trial to begin on Tuesday
